ALMAS MARINAS FOUNDATION, A MARINE AWARENESS PURPOSE IN THE BALEARIC SEA

After many months of effort and work, “Almas Marinas Foundation” arrives, an environmental education and awareness project, a unique experience in the Balearic Islands, which was born from the need to provide information and activities in the open sea in order to preserve marine ecosystems. This experience is aimed at students, companies and all institutions in our society in general.

"Almas Marinas Foundation" offers an outing aboard a boat and has collaborated closely since 2019 with the Palma Aquarium Foundation in conservation work, caring for and releasing sea turtles. Both entities share a deep-rooted environmental and social philosophy.

For that reason, the idea arose to create a different diligence that could reach everyone.

The "Almas Marinas Foundation" activities carried out on board range from environmental education in its pure essence, such as the collection and identification of waste using a “Manta Trawl” (a specific network that traps microplastics on the surface), to the practice of sailor's knots and basic nautical knowledge in the “Captain for a day” activity. Good practices and action protocols in the rescue of marine fauna will also be taught with a simulation in an activity under the title "Heroes of the Sea", other workshops and activities to be developed are "Marine Species" and "Your Square Meter". This excursion culminates with a presentation by its organizers on the importance of protecting and conserving marine ecosystems, their habitats and biodiversity.

The entities promoting the initiative work in the sea and see first-hand the real impact that humans have on it, this reason has led to taking the step of creating "Almas Marinas Foundation", but anyone who has an interest in preservation of the seas and oceans can be a Sea Soul.
