Sea Guard Barriers

Sea Guard Barriers, Timón Award for being the solution to the problem of plastics dumped into the sea.

In the VII Edition of the Timón Awards organized by Gaceta Náutica, the shipowner of Falcao Uno, Carlos Samblás and the civil engineer, Juan José Lemm (TP&E Maritime & Civil Engineering), received a second prize for the Sea Guard project Barriers.

It is a piloted floating system for collecting plastics at the mouth of torrents, thus managing to substantially reduce plastic spills that reach the sea. A solution to the great problem of plastic dumping that we want to see implemented as soon as possible in all the torrents of Mallorca.

With the Sea Guard Barriers project we have found the perfect solution to prevent waste from the city from being dumped into the sea through torrents. And not only would it be possible to keep the sea clean of the waste generated in the torrents, but it would also educate and raise awareness among society since the benefits achieved with the Sea Guard Barriers will finance the “Almas Marinas” project.
